Could you handle a night under the stars in the middle of November? A number of Birmingham Future members are already signed up to take part in the ultimate networking event, the St Basil’s Corporate Sleepout. Following the huge success of last year’s event, which raised around £22,000, Birmingham’s professional community are again invited to sleep rough for one night, and help to raise even more for one of the city’s most worthwhile causes. This year, the aim is 100 people, and we know that the Birmingham Future membership can help beat that target.

BIRMINGHAM THRIVE INITIATIVE AIMS TO BRING BUSINESS AND CHARITY CLOSER TOGETHER…
Thrive forum members have created a new initiative, which aims to introduce local charities to key CSR contacts from some of the city’s most prominent businesses.
The event is an interactive workshop to be held on January 20 2009. Representatives from both the charity and corporate sector will be invited to participate in discussions, have the opportunity to network with interested parties, as well as benefiting from case study presentations on some successful charity/corporate partnerships.
Alex Bishop, immediate past Chair of Birmingham Future and Partner at Shoosmiths heads up the team behind this event:
“The idea for this event evolved following a Thrive event in early 2008. This small team, which includes representatives from both charity organisations and corporate firms have been meeting on a regular basis to set this event up, along with the Birmingham Walks events which have taken place during 2008. We hope that this new event will enable charities to understand the best methods of approaching corporate contacts, help to forge new relationships and maximise on the opportunities which will come from these relationships. The event is kindly sponsored and hosted by Pinsent Masons, who are providing a venue and refreshments for all attendees. The event will have a busy schedule of activity with key guest speakers and three case study presentations made at the event from successful CSR partnership,” explains Alex.
Attendance at this event costs just £9.99 inclusive of VAT and to book a place at this event or for further information visit www.birminghamfuture.co.uk or contact Martina Fajksova at Birmingham Forward – t: 0121 632 2203
